Deadly Piggies!!
Giggles , Politics

Its been a while since I demanded piggies and in conjucntion with this article called: "More people are killed every year by pigs than by sharks" I think I should. I don't know if anything will happen if I demand on my site instead of Kevin's. But hey, its still really close to my bday so we'll give it a try....

I have evaluated the risks and...

I DEMAND PIGGIES!!!!!!!!

Team Kitty
Family , Giggles

There has been this BIG BLACK FLY buzzing around today. It was let in while Kevin and I were working on organizing the garage and left the door open for a while. Miss Nym has been chasing it around the house all evening in her intent silly way.

Just as we were about to go to bed I noticed the huge black fly had landed on the wall in front of us above the table. Nym was sitting there intently watching said fly and trying to figure out how she would be able to get it up so high (about my shoulder height on the wall). The fly had also been bugging Kevin today, so when I pointed it out he walked over to swat the fly and be done with it.

As he approached Nym let out a little cry of protest and as she realized that he really as going for it she cried and again walked her front legs up the cushions stacked beside the wall as if to say "no, thats MY fly!"

Kevin, being the light-hearted guy that he is, decides okay and picks up Nym and holds her over to the wall by the fly. She reaches right out and SWATS that fly good.

SHE ACTUALLY HIT IT!

Not enough to kill it, but it did feel the wrath of the kitty.

After Kevin set her down she kind of followed him around like he was her hero. He picked her up one other time just to hold her and she immediately started looking up at the walls and propping herself up in his arms as if she were getting ready to bat at something. Its the cutest thing!! Kevin is Nym's stilts!! Go Team Kitty!!

The Twelve Days Of Price Shopping
Earth , Giggles

Every year PNC bank has a little fun and does a little price shopping for the amusement (and possibly the horror) of the rest of us. That's right folks, I give you the PNC Bank Twelve Days Of Christmas Annual Price Index.

Even if you don't have time to read the article (which is quite interesting), at least scroll down to the bottom and check out the chart.

Personally, I think we already have the pear tree (or something close), so I can just pick up a partridge for fifteen bucks and I'm set there! I might spook the neighbors though.

Thank you to Groovy Mother for another great link!

Playing With Her Mind
Air , Family , Giggles , Media

Pets are so very funny.

Last night Kevin and Athena and I watched Kill Bill. I won't spoil the movie for those who haven't seen it. However during one fight scene there is ball on a chain and it is being swung all around. The swinging is making this great wosh wosh sound that was moving through the surround sound all around us.

I love surround sound, however this was more than little Miss Nym could take. She kept running around toward each speaker, eyes toward the sky, trying desperately to figure out what it was that was making that sound.

Oh she wanted that wosh wosh thing! Eventually, driven a little crazy she gave up and walked off down the hall, head still pointed toward the ceiling. Keeping an eye out just in case.

It was the funniest thing EVER!!! I need to get a good copy of that wosh noise. Gotta love torturing your cat!

Memories of Fabio
Air , Friends , Giggles , Media

I received a blast from the past today. Driving to my massage this morning (oh was it good) I put on one of the radio morning shows. The DJ's are on vacation so they are playing taped shows from the past. On the show they were re-running this morning the DJ's had gotten ahold of the Fabio CD.

Ahhh... the Fabio CD... the worst piece of music ever recorded and yet...

Susquehanna University, around my sophomore or junior year Amy received a care package from her mom which included the Fabio CD she had picked up at the dollar store. We all rolled our eyes and laughed but we stuck the CD in. Oh its awful, corny background music while Fabio tries to use his sexy voice to tell stories about how he would woo a women in one way or another. The songs are all called things like "Fabio on Slow Dancing".

We rolled around laughing. Jay began strutting around the room mouthing along with Fabio. We did a mini photo shoot where Jay tried out poses that Fabio displayed in the dusk jacket. We just loved the dolphin pose!!

Oh those were good times. I can still picture that whole Fabio day.

I wish that the radio show hadn't been taped... I really wanted to call in!

Cooking vs. Baking
Domestics , Fire , Giggles

Baking is not my strong suit!

I'm making some happy snicker doodles to cheer up some friends. The problem with baking is that you actually have to read the directions exactly. With cooking the recipe is kind of like a guideline, I can make some changes and make the food in my fashion.

With baking I have to do it just right. I guess I'm too distractible today.

First I started out making the snicker doodles but accidently started using the recipe next to it for ginger snaps.

-scrap that and start over-

Then I start the snicker doodles and read the measurements wrong, ended up doubling some of the ingredients by accident. oops... gotta double it all now.

Snicker doodles galore!!

Mary Shelley's Inspiration
Earth , Giggles

"It's Alive, It's Alive It's Alive" - one girl shouted as she yanked her hands from a bucket of mud that she and her classmate had been inspecting.

School discovery station "What Lives In The Mud" was set up along one of the paths in the Shoreline park. We discovered the group on a morning bike ride, and on our way back were amused by our child Mary Shelley inspiration.

Other discoveries on our bike ride (besides a few muscles) include a jack rabbit, dragon flies that keep pace between the bikes, old men speaking a slavic language which reminded my of my Great Grandpa Judwick, birds and muskrats/squirrel (thats still under debate), and that the circulation in my right hand is bad and caused numbness half way through the ride.

Bike rides are lots of fun!!

80's Child
Air , Giggles , music

So I scored an 84 (grr... I didn't get points for a couple I think I should have gotten. billie = billy in my book.) which I guess only proves that I was an 80's child. Its a fun test though!

One thing I learned about myself on this test, its really hard to change songs in my head very quickly. Oh, and you may have a bunch of songs stuck in your head for the rest of the day!

Thanks to Blacksheep for this quiz.

Kicking Ass says: "When your strongest supporters call you a liar, where do you have left to turn?"

I love this!!

However on the other hand I signed up online to volunteer for John Kerry - and they still haven't contacted me for anything but a donation. I expected at least a list of who to contact for certain ways to volunteer. Oh well, time to try harder.

The Art of Speech
Giggles , Politics , Water

This is last week, but I still feel the need to post it. I found this quote on In Passing:

"His phrasing is weird, it's offbeat. He's not pausing at the commas. Hear that? Wait a minute... Dude, he's pausing at the big words." --A girl watching Bush's press conference on the TV in the lobby of my hotel.

Laughing Balloon Heads
Air , Giggles , Photography

This site is pretty cool. In an effort to find out what laughing is a photographer and a balloon twister have gone on trips around the world together making balloon hats for people and photographing them. They also ask the question "What is Laughing?" to which they have a variety of reponses. If nothing else check out the photos on this site, they will get you laughing.

"Laughing is the smile of the World."

Weerashon Puttrpadit, Mahasarakham, Thailand

So Phoenix Feather readers, what is laughing to you?
